Wendell Koi has spent over 26 years working in various capacities within Marine Operations in the tug and barge industry. A graduate of the California Maritime Academy, Wendell holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering Technology as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
He started his career as a dock mechanic performing such inauspicious tasks as pumping bilges and changing engine oil on harbor tugs in San Francisco Bay. Upon graduating from CMA, he joined Crowley Maritime Corporation as an Assistant Port Engineer in Long Beach, CA. These formative years provided Wendell with a solid background in repair and maintenance of ocean going line-haul tugs, harbor docking tugs, petroleum barges and passenger vessels.
He later joined Foss Maritime as an Assistant Port Engineer/Purchasing Specialist, gaining more experience in M&R, leading special projects and performing purchasing duties for all of Foss’ Southern California operations. Over the course of a 17 year tenure with Foss, Wendell gained valuable experience in P&L capacities starting as Manager San Diego, Marine Operations Manager SOCAL and Regional Director, Pacific Northwest. These line management roles served him well when he assumed more corporate responsibilities overseeing all of Customer Service and Billing. The last post as Business Architect allowed Wendell to become extensively involved in enterprise application implementations, specifically for business intelligence and payroll, where he represented all of the operating companies under Foss Holdings.
As the principle consultant and owner of SeaPro Solutions since 2012, Wendell has worked with prominent tug & barge companies and pilot associations across the U.S., where he has been able to provide tremendous value from over two decades of industry experience.
Wendell resides in Seattle, Washington and is married with two children.
